Revalidation
About Revalidation
The purpose of revalidation is to assure patients and the public, employers and other professionals that doctors are up to date and fit to practise. The Revalidation Support Team works in partnership with the Department of Health, the General Medical Council and designated bodies to deliver an effective appraisal system for doctors in England
All GMC licensed doctors will be revalidated every five years. This is achieved by 5 annual appraisals, proof of engagement to the Good Medical Practice Framework and CPD Accredited courses and training material. The Good Medical Practice Framework for appraisal and revalidation sets out the broad areas which should be covered in medical appraisal and on which recommendations to revalidate doctors will be based.
Doctors will need to be revalidated by the end of March 2016 and while this may sound a long way off the process starts now. We take an interest in keeping doctors up to date helping them to maintain and enhance the quality of their professional work.
